What A Summer!
Morning In The Midi
Wow .. what a Summer, It has been amazing to be able to plan BBQs and evenings with family in advance. We can leave cushions, chairs, etc. outside and not worry if it's going to rain. What a privilege. We have the swallows are above as well as the slightly daft wood pigeons in the trees and the lively young cows in the meadow next door.
To celebrate this Summer we have now added John's oil painting called 'Morning In The Midi' to the website. '
"I painted this little hamlet during a painting trip in the départements of Tarn and Aude, in the South of France.
I have painted extensively on these quiet backroads between Albi and Carcassonne, enjoying the varied and sometimes dramatic landscapes to be found there."

'Morning In The Midi' perfectly captures the heat after many visits to France, due to the fact that John and his wife owned a flat where his studio was based in the town of Limoux overlooking the River Aude and approximately 20 miles from Carcassonne. This town is renouned for it vineyards producing a lovely local sparkling wine called Blanquette de Limoux and has a fantastic Winter Festival entitled Carnival de Limoux.
