CHROMESTHESIA COLLECTION
ABSTRACT PAINTINGS

Cromesthesia is a form of synaesthesia - where people with the condition involantarily associate letters and numbers with colours. It takes this a stage further to link sounds with colours and is the basis for these three paintings.

John has painted these works while repeatedly listening to the pieces. He first used this approach to abstracts in 1968, effctively combining his two creative passions. The particular perfomances used are included in the three abstracts so that you can follow them, reading the progress of the music, so to speak, from left to right

These original paintings are unframed and the media is oil unless otherwise stated.
